Create a free QR code for a PDF, image, audio or video, with a preview and download button. Change the file without reprinting.
A file QR code opens a page with a preview of your PDF, image, audio or video and a button to download it. It is perfect for sharing catalogs, manuals, data sheets, brochures or presentations.
Because it is a dynamic code, you can replace the file with a new version whenever you like and the printed code keeps working. You also see how many times it is scanned and downloaded.
It is especially useful on products and machinery: a sticker with the code on the equipment itself lets people check the manual or warranty years later, when the paper copy is long gone.
Use a link ending in .pdf (or the image, audio or video extension) so the page shows the preview. With other links only the download button is shown.
Optimize the file size before uploading: a light PDF opens much faster on mobile data.
A PDF QR code stores a short link to the file's page, so the code stays simple even if the document is long. On manuals, packaging, product labels or spec sheets it reads well at 1 to 1.2 in (2.5 to 3 cm). On a trade-show stand or a notice board, go up to 4 in (10 cm) or more so people can scan it without stepping closer.
On product labels and packaging, space and colors are usually set by the design. If the background is colored, reserve a white box for the code, with its margin. Avoid placing it over folds, corners or curved surfaces such as bottles: the distortion makes it harder to read. Say next to the code which document it opens: "User manual" or "Spec sheet (PDF)".
Each type of code has its own generator with exactly the fields it needs. Pick the one that fits what you want to share:
PDF, images (JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, SVG), audio (MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A) and video (MP4, WEBM, MOV). Other formats are offered as a download.
Yes. Edit the file link from "My codes" and the same code will show the new version.
Anywhere with a public link: your own website, your WordPress media library or a cloud storage service.
Yes. In "My codes" you can see scans and how many times the download button is tapped.
No. Scanning opens a page with a preview of the file and a download button, so the person decides whether to save it.
The limit is set by your media library or the service where you host the file. Even so, keep it light: on mobile data, a PDF under 5 MB opens much faster.
Yes. It's ideal for any document you want to share on paper without printing the whole thing: catalogs, price lists, portfolios, event programs or course outlines.
