Create one free QR code for your app: it sends iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play, automatically.
An app QR code detects the phone of whoever scans it and sends them to the right store: the App Store for iPhone, Google Play for Android. One code for both stores, with no intermediate pages.
On a computer, it shows a page with both download buttons and a link to your website. And because it is a dynamic code, you can change the links later without reprinting anything and see how many times it is scanned.
Copy the links straight from the app's listing in each store ("Share" button). That way you are sure they open the right listing.
Show the App Store and Google Play badges next to the code: people instantly understand it is for downloading an app.
An app QR code stores a short link that decides which store to send people to, so the code is simple and reads well from 1 in (2.5 cm). It often appears on packaging, receipts, counters, ads and screens. On a screen or a poster, allow 4 in (10 cm) for every 3 ft (1 m) of distance; in a video, keep the code on screen for at least five seconds.
Use the main color of your app icon for the dots, if it's dark, and place the icon in the center of the code with error correction set to "Maximum (H)". Put the official App Store and Google Play badges next to it, at their minimum size and without changing their colors, so people know the code is for downloading the app.
Each type of code has its own generator with exactly the fields it needs. Pick the one that fits what you want to share:
When scanned, it goes through a short link that detects whether the phone is an iPhone or Android and redirects to the matching store.
